Templates for greeting cards and web pages can be designed using many designing softwares like:
Macromedia fireworks
Macromedia Dreamweaver
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe image ready
corel draw

many other softwares are available for each kind of design properties.

The greeting card design depends on the pixel concentration for its quality on its hard copy.
therefore the pixel concentration is always increased during the initial set up of the canvas to be used . a concebtration of 300 dpi would produce a better quality of the image printed.

The best highest quality format to save the design is TIFF format.this provides more quality compared to .gif and .jpeg formats.Rather ,TIFF formats takes more space compared to the the other compression formats( gif, jpeg).A 12mb TIFF file can be compressed to 4mb gif file, this would make u clear about the quality difference.
